Baby Crying
Parents need to REMEMBER; the only communication between you and baby is by listening to their cries. As babies do not speak or express physically like adult, therefore, they can only cry and cry to make the adult especially parent to know their need.
How long baby cry? Babies can fuss and cry from 1 to 4hours in a day. They eventually will cry less as they learn other ways to communicate with their parent. ;p
Generally, I would summarize the Top 10 reason of babies crying as below:-
1) Hunger
2) Feeling sleepy / tired
3) Dirty diaper
4) Need companionship / Loneliness
5) Stomachache / Wind
6) Sick / Not feeling well
7) Teething
8) Soreness / Discomfort
9) Surrounding / Temperature
10) Stimulation - active / passive

Personally, I try to differentiate my babies cries by looking their action and their crying voice tone as below:-
1) Voice : Mild pitch, screaming with "O" shape mouth, redness in face
Action : Fingers put into mouth or mouth following your finger movement when you tip sideway of mouth.
Reason : Hungry
2) Voice : High pitch, screaming without pauses
Action : Fist clenched, knee drawn to chest, may appear in severe pain.
Reason : Stomachache, sick, discomfort, Surrounding, teething
3) Voice : Low tone, mild squeezing sound
Action : Tossing around even after swaddle, feeling unsettle without crying - normally yawning or with open eye.
Reason : Need companionship, sleepy, need passive stimulation such as soft singing sound.
4) Voice : Short, shrill scream with pause or a sudden low crying.
Action : Feeling unsettle
Reason : Diaper changing time.

Mummy and Daddy, please do try to be patient, learn and understanding your baby mode of communication well. Once you can identify their reason of crying, the soothing part in just at your finger tips. Of course, to reach this level, there will be lots of trial and error along the way.
